Nicholas was admitted in November 2021 and has built a practice focused on high-conflict estate matters, capacity disputes, and calmly negotiating the kind of after-death family dynamics that make the Godfather movies look like Winnie the Pooh.

He holds a Master of Health Law from the University of Sydney, specialising in questions of capacity, end-of-life determinations, body disposal, and post-mortem tissue donation regulations, bringing a uniquely informed approach to discussions around burial requests or the quality of end-of-life care.

Nicholas approaches his work with compassion, gentle humour, and a firm view that death doesn’t absolve people of their moral obligations or promises, it just makes enforcing them a bit more fun. He is particularly focused on ensuring that vulnerable individuals were not taken advantage of in their final years, and that those left behind are properly looked after no matter what they did or did not say at their cousin Doreen’s wedding in 1991 after a few too many shandies.

Leading probate barristers have referred to him as their preferred instructing solicitor at final hearings and he does not shy away from appearing in Court himself if the matter is urgent or counsel is unavailable. Nicholas also lecturers in Succession Law for the University of Sydney’s Law Extension Committee and is always happy to give advice to colleagues or clients that need answers to the strange questions that can crop up after somebody dies.
